A Collaborative Art Initiative: Portraits of the Inner World

As the Brand and Client Experience Manager for the Courageous Healing team, one of my goals was to provide relatable language and visuals as the conversation around mental health developed. For the Portraits of the Inner World Art Exhibit, I collaborated with ten talented Indiana artists to transform the community's visual representation of mental health.

Through artistic visual storytelling, we aimed to present mental health issues in a new light. The community-driven initiative started with a social media post, followed by a survey collecting words reflecting individuals' experiences with mental health. These expressions inspired the artists, who incorporated them into their work, resulting in impactful visual interpretations.

The culmination of these artworks took center stage at a July Art Exhibit commemorating BIPOC Mental Health Month. These pieces have become integral and permanent elements of the Courageous Healing facility, allowing clients and visitors to experience complex emotions through tangible and genuine visuals. The project was inspired by photographer Flora Maclean and Refinery29.
