Advocating for Mental Health: Amplifying the Cause

As the Brand Manager at Courageous Healing, I led the charge in developing content marketing projects that not only engaged our audience but significantly contributed to our fundraising efforts. Our mission, deeply rooted in inclusivity and the reimagining of mental health care, guided our content strategy to challenge prevailing stereotypes and embrace cultural differences, particularly within historically marginalized communities. Through a combination of content strategy, audience research, and campaign creation, we embarked on projects that not only spread our message but also mobilized resources towards making culturally centered, trauma-informed mental health services widely accessible.

One standout project was our 2022 Giving Tuesday Campaign, which successfully raised $20,000. This campaign was multifaceted, offering supporters ways to contribute beyond financial donations. We created a communication kit to help our community spread the word through their networks, alongside a straightforward path for making online donations or sending gifts via mail. The campaign's success was amplified by a matching offer, doubling the impact of each donation towards our mission. This effort demonstrated the power of community and the impact of well-crafted, mission-aligned content in mobilizing support.

Further enhancing our content marketing portfolio were two powerful pieces centered around high-profile individuals and their mental health advocacy. The first, an article on Naomi Osaka's decision to withdraw from the French Open, explored the complexities of setting mental health boundaries as a person of color in high-pressure environments. Through this piece, we connected with our audience on the challenges of advocating for one's mental health in professional settings, especially for individuals with marginalized identities. The second piece celebrated Mental Health Awareness Month, leveraging a message from Lauryn Hill to amplify our commitment to mental health awareness and resource sharing. Both pieces were emblematic of our approach to content marketing: creating engaging, thoughtful content that resonates on a personal level while advancing our broader mission of inclusivity and accessibility in mental health care.
